Memphis Non-profit Program

About ArtRevival

ArtRevival revolutionizes the way communities view the arts by empowering middle school students to approach community problems through art education. In this program, students learn and improve on their basic art skills as well as learn more about the problems that occur in Memphis. Through a series of five art workshops, the students discuss cultural, social, and environmental conflicts. Then the students apply their art techniques to create a visual voice art piece that represents the conflict they believe is most important to them. These pieces as well as other respected artworks will be included in the art showcase at the end of the program.

Although there are many art programs available throughout Memphis, ArtRevival connects art to civil issues. ArtRevival emphasizes on communal problems to help students voice their opinion while using their raw talent and skill. With the use of art, these issues become a more urgent matter to discuss amongst the citizens in Memphis by being expressed in a visual matter. By having a program focused on addressing the major problems in their environment, the students in ArtRevival will work in a positive atmosphere that will help them become more active citizens in their community. In addition, they put their creativity on the line by creating a personal piece, thus improving their innovative thinking and independence.
